Neighbours cat is stealing. Found 16 garden gloves and underclothes of ours. See funny side BUT it's COSTLY!

Have thought I had been misplacing garden gloves (including heavy leather gloves for pruning roses) and clothing. Thought I was getting alzheimers for all these months! I remembered I had chased this particular cat out of the house and laundry on different occasions and saw a new pair of gloves where I hadn't been gardening so rang a neighbour to see whose cat it was and you guessed it - has been pinching knickers and other clothing for months and had pinched her garden gloves a couple of days ago. Who is liable for replacements? See the funny side but IT IS COSTLY.......... Jewellery has gone missing (only one earring - never both!) Heard he also likes shiny things. HELP required other than keeping my doors shut which isn't an option.

2. Put your valuables away and keep your gloves in a storage bin with a lid. You could watch to see where the cat goes with them and find his stash. One of my cats hoards drinking straws. I found her stash under the bed. There were probably 30 straws under there! Since you don't want to close your doors, you would be responsible for the cat taking your stuff. They won't prosecute the cat.

One buries the loot, and another scouting for new loot.

4. It should be up to your neighbor to replace the items if you are sure it is their cat.It would be much easier however, if you were able to catch the "sneaky kitty" on video. That way it would be hard for the cat owner to deny responsability. I'll say like you though, it has a funny side to it!! 5. I really don't know a solution to this problem but I had to respond. I have never _ever_ seen hoarding behavior in the feline world, whether domestic, feral or even in the Big Cats.
I've seen similar behavior in some dogs. Humans seem to be the only creature on this green Earth that really hoards things, whatever they be, even cats themselves! We've all heard about the crazy lady with a bjillion cats having the run of the house and yard. And, yes, it is pathological. The hoarding behavior you see seems to be related to the "trophy" factor where a cat may come happily into the house bearing the "gift" of a dead bloody mouse (even live ones), and then expect recognition and praise for its successful hunt. I submit that we chalk this up as another individual personal oddity from our favorite pet.

Personally, I think this is hysterical, much more intriguing and fun than it is costly. How much can a pair of garden gloves cost? Maybe it would be a good idea to properly store the things the cat hoards.

6. talk to your neighbor, their cat should be on their property at all times, if not on their property it NEEDS to be UNDER CONTROL of it's owner on a leash.

7. A cat? How odd.. have you seen the cat do these things? Maybe he has an underwear fetish...

8. You don't or won't keep your doors closed so I think you
are responsible for the the lost. Surely your neighbour can
return your items of clothing. I had the same problem at
one time. I shared a balcony with a neighbour and the only thing that divided it was a wall with about a 6 inch gap between the floor and the wall. Her cat and my cat used to go back and forth between flats as we both keep our doors open (we were on the 4th floor) we never met until I had to return her knickers and the belt to her dressing gown and
she had to return my bulbs from my window boxes. It seems our cats got together and pinched things from each others places. The final straw for her was when I found the fighting over her gold chain with a diamond pendant on my side.
After that we met and had tea. I told her I wanted to train them to be 'cat' burglars and bring me cash instead of jewellery. We lived side by side for 12 years. She worked nights I worked days. We both had two cats and when I went to work my cats went next door and spent the day with her and when I came home she was just leaving for work and her cats came and stayed with me. We cared for each other cats and flats during holidays. It was a wonderful relationship!.

9. depends on what your laws are my nabors dog attacked and killed my chicken and they didnt have to replac a thing the cop just told me to shot the dog next time this happens and burnie it along with all the wild stray cat who do the same crime and also the cats desriod stuff in my shed...if u cant fire a gun rat poision works wonders
