rose gardening gloves Knowledge Base

Neighbours cat is stealing. Found 16 garden gloves and underclothes of ours. See funny side BUT it's COSTLY! Have thought I had been misplacing garden gloves (including heavy leather gloves for pruning roses) and clothing. Thought I was getting alzheimers for all these months! I remembered I had chased this particular cat out of the house and laundry on different occasions and saw a new pair of gloves where I hadn't been gardening so rang a neighbour to see whose cat it was and you guessed it - has been pinching knickers and other clothing for months and had pinched her garden gloves a couple of days ago. Who is liable for replacements? See the funny side but IT IS COSTLY.......... Jewellery has gone missing (only one earring - never both!) Heard he also likes shiny things. HELP required other than keeping my doors shut which isn't an option.
What's in your closet? (that you want to write about.)? I have a basket in the shape of a teapot, that has antique cups-saucers with gold trim for when my friend and I have tea in the rose garden park this spring. There is also an antique lace tablecloth, and linen napkins, and a variety of delish handpicked teas in it. We will go in long spring dresses and gloves, with our widebrimmed hats.
Can someone help me with "Incident in a Rose Garden"? I know that there is a version of the poem that starts off like this, "Gardener Sir, I encountered Death Just now among our roses Thin as a scythe he stood there. I knew him by his pictures He had on his black coat Black gloves, and broad black hat." ..and it goes on with the rest of the poem. but i read another version with more stanza's in it last year in my English class that one of the lines was talking about death that looks "dressed like a spanish waiter" does anyone know the version i'm talking about, and if they could post it. thanks.
Does this sound like a good birthday prsent for my mom? Her birthday is coming up next week. She really likes gardening and flowers, (sunflowers are her favorite) so I'm buying her a bouquet of sunflowers, yellow roses, and some other flower. (I forget what it's called haha) Then, I'm getting her new gardening gloves, a few packets of seeds, and white chocolate because she likes that. On top of all that, I'm going to be nice to her all day and clean the house and stuff. Is this enough? The flowers are expensive and cost $50.00 and I'm getting them sent to my house, so that will cost even more.
Why is the THISTLE the national flower of Scotland? In the UK Northern Ireland has the blue Flax in honour of its historic linen industry, England has the beautiful Rose known as Queen of all flowers, Wales has the lovely golden Daffodil (and the tasty Leek), but Scotland has the THISTLE, which is just about the most horrible, invasive, big, tough, ugly, thorny WEED that exists! It's a true weed that's of no use to anyone and if it gets into the garden you can't get rid of it - its big tough prickles even get you through leather gloves! So why has Scotland chosen this rough weed as their national symbol; surely there's a better Scottish plant? THANKS to those who've jumped right in with the best answers! I see now! Those are great stories & I understand why it's been adopted. That weed sure would have been a great defense against invaders! No wonder it's loved in Scotland.

What's the best way to grow plants and flowers in containers? I would love to have a garden but I live in a place where I am unable to have a garden in the ground, so I was wanting to have a container garden. I have no ideal how to go about that properly so that I don't kill the plants. I have been told that it can be somewhat involved but that's okay because I love flowers. Are there any good websites or books I can get to help me. I'd love to be able to grow a wide variety things like hydrangeas, pampas grass, fox glove, roses, and possible even strawberries or other fruit.
On a scale of 1 to 10.........? How would you rate my writing technique/style? Just a note: Please don't rate my plot, because there is none, and it wouldn't be very clever to rate something that isn't there... Thanks! Emily Howard woke up from the moon shining brightly in her eyes. The moon. Darn. She had woken up in the middle of the night again. Moaning with tiredness she sheltered herself from the moonlight by pulling the blankets over her head, before drifting uneasily back to sleep. It was her first day of a real school tomorrow and she was deathly exited. Literally. This time she woke up from suffocation. ‘Note to self,’ she thought, while gasping for air. ‘Don’t pull blankets over your face’. That morning, Emily arose to the sweetest, most delightful smell she had ever smelt. Her two younger sisters, Ruby and Mia, were standing next to her bed holding a beautiful bouquet of roses, and Milly, their cat. They were wearing matching lace dresses, crisp white stockings and dainty black shoes. Ruby’s hair was curled to perfection with a pink ribbon holding it in place, and Mia sported crisp white gloves on either hand. ‘We picked these roses from the front gardens in the neighborhood,’ said Ruby cheerfully, as she handed them over to a bewildered Emily. ‘Especially for you,’ she added. ‘Milly wanted to say hello,’ said Mia, and she gently placed Milly on Emily’s lap. ‘Thank you,’ was all Emily managed to say, as her sisters glided gracefully across the floor towards the door, before leaving her room. Emily still didn’t know what to think, so she buried her nose in the carefully arraigned bouquet. Who knew roses could make you feel so peaceful, even despite the fact that they were stolen from someone else’s gardens. Eventually she stood up and put them in a vase that she had never seen before. ‘How convenient,’ she thought, as she placed the vase and flowers on her drawer and left her room for breakfast. As she entered the living room, Emily was greeted by her brother, Josh. ‘Good morning, sister,’ He said, in a smart manner. Not only was his manner smart, but so was his attire. He was wearing a neatly ironed tuxedo, with what looked like one of the neighbor’s roses sitting neatly in the pocket, polished black leather shoes, and hair that was smoothed back with an excessive amount of hair gel. Or was it shoe polish? Emily didn’t have time to respond before he began talking again ‘Shall I entertain you with a piece written by Johann Pachelbel himself?’ He enquired. Emily stood and stared at Josh, who had made his way to the piano and started to play Canon in D Major, where he was joined by Ruby and Mia swaying together, both in time to the music. ‘This is all too weird,’ thought Emily. She began to wonder if it was a dream when she was interrupted. ‘Breakfast is served!’ came a voice. Emily spun around to see who it was. Sarah, her other sister, appeared from the kitchen and she was dressed just like Mia and Ruby, except her dress was a bright canary yellow colour and she wore a checkered red and white apron on top of it. ‘butterscotch crème pancake with cranberry sauce. Your favourite, Emily,’ she said as she placed a plate of steaming hot pancakes, cranberry sauce and cream on the table that was adorned with shiny silverware, lit candles and porcelain tea sets. ‘I don’t even like cranberries,’ said Emily as she sat down and began serving herself. ‘Oh, but you will after you’ve eaten these,’ retorted Sarah, and to Emily’s surprise, she was right.
Do you like my autograph? Sorry, I meant 'Do you like my story?' It has no plot, I'm just developing my writing style/technique... Emily Howard woke up from the moon shining brightly in her eyes. English Assignment - Need creative ideas!? My English Assignment is due tomorrow. I'm 13 years old, (is this good for my age)? What would you give me? E,D,C,B,A ? Once upon a time, not so very long ago, there lived a mean, old, lady by the name of Agatha. Agatha was well known for being a witch, cursing spells on others, and being very self centered. Agatha had dark green skin, black eyes, had synthetic type, long, black hair, wore long black clothing, wore a pointy hat, had long hands and always wore gloves. Children would always pick out her moles, especially big nose, and yellow teeth. Agatha lived on a block of land, far, far away from anybody else. She lived in a small cottage, and always had a black cat starring outside her window. Children would be very scared and afraid of Agatha. Stories would run all around town; from bad to worse. One of the rumors was that Agatha had a big black oven to cook children in; and another that she cursed deadly spells on whoever walked past her house. Every Friday night, people’s houses would get vandalized, broken into, and destroyed. Everybody always blamed the witch, Agatha. One day, a young joyful girl named Rose was walking past her house, and swore that she saw a witch giving her deadly looks from outside her window. Rose was always a goody-goody two shoes, and everybody believed her. Rose would walk past Agatha’s house with a camera, to capture how “ugly” she thought her house was. Up until, that is, when Agatha really did go outside. Roses face went pale white, she was speechless. Agatha asked Rose, in a polite tone, “What are you doing?” Rose immediately dropped her camera and ran. Rose fell over, and ended up having a broken ankle. Agatha picked up her camera, and looked through the photos. Rose didn’t want to be caught for taking photos on another person’s property, so she screamed and created attention. The old man, who lived across the field heard Roses scream. He was hosing down his garden, and accidently left the water on. He started running toward the witches’ cottage. “What are you doing, you old raggaed witch!” Cussed the old man to Agatha. “I didn’t do anything; it was the girl who caused all of the drama!” Agatha yelled back. Rose screamed again, and the old man ran over towards Rose. “You broke her ankle! This is un-heard of!” The old man tried to help Rose up, but she was un-able to walk. Rose started crying hysterically, and then a crowd of people started helping Rose. Agatha walked inside her cottage, laughing in her way in. Thanks in advance.
Government Motors: Are there plans for a new car-line... called "The Ruincarnation"? How prophetic. Almost as soothing as scratching poison ivy with the thorn of an hypnotic rose. What do you think of the first two pages of the book i'm writing? I'm 13 and I'm writing a book (my third). What do you think of the first 2 pages i have so far? Would you want to read it? The way it looks: Upper class, suburban New England town. Kids out on their bikes, families with babies and dogs. Halfway down April Drive, there is a large house, the color of a ray of sun with a neatly trimmed lawn and a garden overflowing with tulips. There are two kids bikes toppled over on the driveway next to an SUV and a basketball hoop. Zoom in through a window. There’s a kitchen table with a lace table cloth and a vase with roses in it. In the living room sit a boy and a girl, about 12 years old. There are two bedrooms. The first is light blue with sport paraphernalia strewn about and a baseball glove tossed haphazardly on the edge of a recently made bed. On a wall is a curtain, probably covering an air conditioner. The other is next door. Light yellow walls, one with a huge dandelion sketched. If you look closely, the girls name is written on the stem; Arianna. On one of the walls there is a curtain that matches the one is the boy’s room. They must both have air conditioners built into the same place. There’s a picture frame knocked over on the desk and a vase full of yellow flowers and a light turned on next to the window that she obviously forgot to turn off. There is a decorative crystal bell on the bedside stand, with an ‘A’ inscribed on it. The next is down the hall. It’s plain to see that it’s the parents bedroom. There are pictures hanging about the wall of a boy and a girl, showing them growing up. The boy in a baseball uniform, the girl in a pool. One side on the bed looks like it’s never been touched. The pillow is perfectly ironed, a heart with an ‘S’ scrawled in pink calligraphy. The other side is wrinkled and looks slept-on, with the same pillow, but a ‘D’ written in blue. His and her matching pillows. How cute. The only reason anyone would look twice would be to admire the house. How beautiful. How New England. Typical happy family. As if. The way it is: Scrape away the yellow paint, and you’ll get a coat of light pink, my mother’s favorite color. It was painted over in yellow 5 years ago. Zoom in through the window again. The tablecloth is there to cover the engraving on the table, “Daniel and Sophie, 1993”. The girl in the living room isn’t sketching. She’s writing what she can’t say. The curtains in the bedrooms are so that the boy can alert their father if the girl needs help, because she can’t do it herself. The picture frame is purposely tipped over. The girl can’t bear to look at the woman in the picture. And the light was also purposely left on, so that if her mom wants to come home. She’ll always see the light leading her there. It hasn’t gone off in five years, two months, 27 days, 8 hours, 4 minutes, and 54 seconds. The bell is in case her brother doesn’t wake up and she needs her dad. The side on the bed that looks like it hasn’t been touched? It hasn’t, and probably never will again. Happy family? Sure. The way it seems: Single father with a high paying job and two beautiful kids. He’s so loving and doting; he even drives them to school each day and waits for them to get into the building. The little girl is always so happy and the boy is so kind. They’re both so active. A real all American family, if I’ve ever seen one. Quiet, but nice. And the kids are so well behaved; they never fight! He takes such good care of the property, too. I wish all families were as close as this one. The way it is: The reason why he’s so doting is because if he lets the girl out of his sight, he doesn’t know what will happen. He drives them to school because on the bus the boy got beat up and the girl got teased mercilessly. She acts happy so maybe she can convince herself that she is. They’re active because the house is so filled with things they can’t and don’t want to face that they spend as much time outside a possible. Things make sense for the girl there. She’s quiet because she has no choice. They don’t fight because if they do, they’ll have no one left to cling to. The boy is his sister’s guardian; if he leaves her, then what will happen? The father takes care of the property so that other people don’t think to look into what their life is really like. And with a girl like that, they have to be close. What it will never be: Normal. Best answer gets 10 points! Bonus question: The title is Seeds of Silence. Do you like the name? And i forgot to say; the girl is touched by an unimaginable act of violence at the beginning. But because she is mute (stopped talking after her mom left. another one of the secrets weaved into the book that is revealed at the end) she can't tell anyone what it is.
Can you interpret this strange dream? My dream starts out where I am in Alexis's house her house is flooding. They have boxes of stuff that is getting flooded and soaked and they dont care. They lived with it, with a smile on their face. I'm thinking in the dream, "Are they crazy?" Then all of a sudden I see Jesse, (my best friend who I love but I have to give up on him because he doesn't feel the same in real life) and I loose focus on where I am. Then he dissapears. I am suddenly in a backyard of a place that isn't mine, but I live here. It's a dark, gloomy, place but I actually like this place because it has some class and mystique about it. I see my rose garden has been cut down. I grew 30 red roses and 30 white roses, but most of them were cut clean. There was only a few red roses left. I saw a girl leaving my backyard with a handful of roses, but I never saw white roses in her hands. I went to chase her. She had very frizzy hair, and it was long and brown. She looked kind of like an emo kid in the face. Everything was dark because it was about to storm. I followed her and asked her why she stole my roses. She said "Look at your house. Look at your life. Everything is glamorous. I live in dirt, and I needed money." I told her that they were still not hers and she could've had them if she asked. Then she got silent. We decided to walk to the park, despite the weather being calm and grey. The park was like a desert with grass that seemed to extend to the horizon, but it was short and in the center was a playground. Everyone was in their groups, cliques, whatever, which were spaced out by the park. I wanted to tell the girl that my life wasn't glamorous and it actually really sucked, but she had it worse then me and I would make myself feel spoiled if I said it. I was wearing one white glove, a pink lacey scarf, an umbrella (just for fashion) and a skirt. It looked like I was strolling through the park in fancy-wear. I saw one of my old friends giving me "the look" like she does in real life, where she is talking to someone and when she notices me she gets her btich face on like she is going to brew up some special bitch stew JUST for me. Goodie. All of a sudden, I saw a tornado behind the playground. It was probably miles away, but it was going very, very fast, and was going to hit me and my new friend in a matter of seconds. I was running, running to my home. I saw my friend dissapear and I didn't have time to save her. I saw my mom trying to round up everybody so we could get our precious memorables and then leave our house in car. I felt distraught. The tornado was going to ruin everything my life surrounded on. I was worried about my memory box in my closet, with all my precious sentimental treasures, and my diary which I kept seprate. I remember running faster then everybody else at the park. I felt like a knight. I saw my moms face, which looked unemotional. She always looks emotional like this in real life when something bad happens. She gets quiet. And then I remember Jesse and I'm hoping if he's making a good escape. I wonder if I'll ever see him again because everyone is fleeing to different places. My mom says to "call her" when I find somewhere with a phone. I remember feeling confused after that and I woke up.
